Crowe Film Romantic Moments

Entries from the past are below. Add yours in the comments section to this post. (Scroll)

John Biebe, intense concentration, in the dark, on the ice, preparing for the big game, surprised by his wife, realigns his priorities, chases her, throws her down, kisses her in the snow.
I have plenty of Russ Romantic Moments in my mind, but being a gay guy whos totally in love with him LOL. It is definetely in "The Sum Of Us" when Jeff is just about to kiss Greg and theyre talking about championship, medals and stuff and Greg asks to Jeff "What Do You Like?" and Jeff answers "I dont Know If im a great champion but i like a bit of action" and then, they make out, theres that scene where Greg leaves Jeff and Jeff asks him to stay saying: "Dont Go Mate, please" with that accent that makes you wanna grab him but even so Greg leaves him...and he stays in the backyards drowning his rejected feelings in a bottle of Whiskey...all alone, i love that scene cause it looks just like me Heh :-P
My favourite moment is from "Heavens Burning" when Russell (Colin) and his girlfriend are at The Spinsters and Bachelors Ball, they leave their partners and are drawn together whilst the BeeGees sing "Don`t Forget To Remember Me",the intensity of Russells looks literally jump out of the screen and you can almost feel the temperature rise,he dances with her, swings her around and then there`s that smile that could win every heart in the world as he swings her outside, beautiful!!
It would have to be from Mystery Alaska from when he crosses out some of the words in the paper and then gets his wife to read the ones that are left, then it goes to the skating and kissing bit outside... I melt evey time I see that bit.
My favorite is the scene from Mystery, Alaska, where John marks out all the words from Dear Abby except the "important" ones in order to apologize to Donna. This is definitely the action of a man who truly loves his wife and, knowing he can't say the words aloud, finds a way.
the shower scene from "Breaking up"!!!! Those big hands certainly have a light touch with that soap!
I thought there were many romantic moments between Bridget Fonda and Russell in "Rough Magic"...When "Alex" finds "Myra" in the church and comes up behind her giving her a beautiful flower. He then starts whispering ever so sweetly in her ear while gazing at her with adoring eyes.Vahvoom!
My favorite romantic moment is in 'Hammers Over the Anvil', when East seats the boy on the paddock railing, then takes Grace in his arms, and waltzes with her alone. The way they look at each other is more romantic to me than the more explicit love scenes in Hammers, tho I don't mind those either!
Many more than one favorite, but here are two of them. 1. For the Moment when Lachlan and Lill are in the bath tub singing. 2. L.A. Confidential when Bud White and Lynn Bracken are in her "real" bedroom when she tells him who she really is.
i havent seen the russells romantic moment i wish to see yet.....but i think my best till now would be l a confidential when he was sitting on the couch in a very sexy way and kim stretched her leg to touch him ....and u know the rest
ABM, alone, has so many moments but I think my favorite scene is toward the end: John is feeling so lost. Alicia puts his hand over her heart and says, "this is real." Pure, pure love.
First, when Max kisses Lucilla in Gladiator. The tender touch of fingers on her cheek, the breathing, the kiss. But I have more than one. Second, Heaven's Burning, the dance at the B&S ball. Very sexy. I love the way he picks her up and spins around with one arm.
The bedroom scene in For A Moment. The candles burning and raining outside. together, in each others arms and running their fingers through each others. Also the scene leading up to that moment.
John's speech at the Nobel Prize Ceremony in A Beautiful Mind.
John: Thank you for your belief in me after so many years. You are the reason I am here today.
Then he touchs the handkerchief that Alicia gave him at the Governor's Ball.
John: You are the reason I am.
A Beautiful Mind - The restaurant scene when John gives Alicia the crystal. His deep feelings are revealed when he remembered something she said at the Governor's mansion at a time he thought he was being followed by spies.
Nash: You said God was a painter. At the party? because of all the colors...
Alicia: I didn't think you were listening.
Nash: I'm always listening.
the most romantic moment is the dear Abby scene in the film Mystery Alaska the look on his face when he passes over the paper is pure magic
The most romantic moment ever in any Russell Crowe movie comes at the end of A Beautiful Mind. John Nash is aceepting his Nobel Prize he looks out into the audience and spots Alicia, and says "You are all my reasons." I was gushing tears.
Just before Maximus escapes and Lucila asks him if she was different back then and he says "No, you smile more" and when she says that she felt safe with him and he breathes deeply and they kiss. WOW, I WISH IT WAS ME.
My favorite russell romantic moment is when he's making shapes in the stars for jennifer connolly(alicia nash) in "A Beautiful Mind". You cant help but LOVE that.
My very most favorite romantic moment is from "Hammers over the Anvil." It is just after the infamous love-making in the barn scene, and East is dancing with Grace--the look on his face speaks volumes about love, passion, desire--all of which East will NOT be denied! Getting shivers just thinking about it!
Since I have not seen that many of his movies I have to say the scene in "Gladiator" that made my heart flutter was when he was chained up and Leslie Neilson's character came to see him for the last time and she kissed him. Loved that scene. I watch it over and over and over.
While some of the more graphic scenes have their value, the most romantic moment was in A Beautiful Mind. When John asks Alicia to pick a shape and she chooses an umbrella; the way he took her hand and traced it for her. Her look of surprise and the gentle, circular rub of the small of her back, and they way they gazed at each other. Gets me every time.
What a tough question about one of my favorite subjects! I have two choices, my first choice: East and Grace waltzing in the corral in HOTA. No dialogue, just eye contact, delight, and tenderness. Wonderful. Second choice, the star gazing scene in ABM. Intense, delicate flirting. Lovely
FOR THE MOMENT: when Lachlan is trying to tell Lil how he feels about her after the funeral and they kiss. It was very emotional.
My favorite is actually two scenes from Mystery, Alaska. John & Donna Biebe have a heart to heart about the recent changes (his eyes tell the whole story). The follow-up scene with the Dear Abby article is precious!
The conversation between Lachlan and Lil after her brother's funeral when they realize their affair must end...sweet, sad, honest, honorable.
In Mystery Alaska where he crosses out words in the Dear Abby article and leaves just the adjectives to describe how he feels about his wife. I am hoping he thought of that one himself!!
A tie between the dancing scene in "Hammers over the Anvil" and the seaside picnic scene in "For the Moment". There's a lot of unspoken emotions in both of them and he is just adorably sweet and tender and vulnerable in both as well.
The scene in Mistery Alaska, when John Biebe is in the kitchen and gives a newspaper clip to his wife, with all the words crossed except the "important ones". I just love the message!!!
My favorite romantic moment is from Proof of Life when Terry is leaving to go rescue Alice's husband and they kiss. The way he held her face and kissed her was really wonderful. Whenever I see that scene I think how lucky Meg was to be with Russell.
There are two scenes in LAC that I watched over and over. When Bud goes to Lynn's house to question her: the sexual tension between the two characters was so palpable on screen it is awsome to watch. His eyes tell so much here. Then the scene where he comes again and she opens the door and he says simply, "It's Bud." Wow. No sex in either one, yet so sexy.
The parting kiss to Meg Ryan, as he leaves to rescue her husband, in Proof of Life.I have shown this scene to my husband a number of times...I tell him that this should be the way he kisses me every time!
The bedroom scene in ABM. Alicia is trying to get John to respond to her and because of the meds he is taking he cannot respond. The look on John's face as he hears Alicia's frustration in the bathroom, well, I cry everytime I watch the scene. Also, the scene between Alicia and John when she is puts her hand on his heart and says "this is real". You can feel the love between them.
Gladiator. When Maximus touch the face of Lucila with your forefinger. Amazing!
I have a few...The barn scene in The Crossing hasn't been mentioned and it is HOT but my favorite is probably the scene after the funeral in For The Moment, so realistic and it makes me cry every time, followed closely by the scene on the hilltop when he recites High Flight and the scene at her house during the storm. Magical...
There are so many that I love, but my favorites are in Proof of Life at the end when she comes over to thank him and tell him how much he means to her ... the eye contact, the facial expressions, then when she and her husband drive away and he just watches their car ... again, those facial expressions ... speaks volumes!!! Also, in Gladiator when he is telling Ceasar about how long it has been since he's seen his wife and describes their home, then at the end when he and Lucilla have that incredibly romantic, moving talk and final kiss!!! Then, in ABM when Alicia tells him what is real...and at the end when he thanks Alicia at the Noble ceremony...I cry every time I see it!!
1. In Mystery Alaska, when Sheriff John studiously crosses out "Dear Abby" words, with his cupid's-bow lips slightly turned up into a little boy's mischievious smile, and his arm crooked over the newspaper so his wife can't see what he's doing, and then glowingly hands the crossed-out column to his wife, and asks her to read it. 2. In LA Confidential, when Bud exudes and oozes love to Lynn while he gently rubs and massages her leg. 3. In The Quick and the Dead, (European version) when Ellen stomps up the stairs of the hoehouse, busts open the door, grabs Cort by the chains, pulls him in a room, kicks the door closed with her boot, pushes Cort agains the wall, and rain is falling on the two, and Ellen frantically unbuttons her pretty linen blouse and embraces Cort and Cort loses all control and embraces Ellen and then takes his manacled wrists and cups Ellen's bottom and lifts her up and kisses her and flutters and closes his jade eyes as she kisses his neck and works her way! down off camera, and Cort exudes his conflict of being a preacher man and his feelings of longing for a gentle, kind, human, female touch, and , and , and, and........
I agree with several fans who voted for Mystery, Alaska. That scene said so much about how he valued his wife and their marriage. Also, the final scene in Rough Magic when he carries Myra into the apartment. Her dress is caught in the door and you hear it rip, but what else, and how much, is actually ripped on the other side of the door? We'll never know.
The scene in Proof of Life when Terry and Alice say goodbye. After they shake hands there is a shot of Terry staring right into Alice's eyes. there is a look in his eyes that I just love. It makes me melt whenever I see it!
Many more than one favorite, but here are two of them: 1. L.A. Confidential when Bud White and Lynn Bracken are in her "real" bedroom when she tells him who she really is; and 2. that scene in "Gladiator", when Maximus was chained up and Lucila came to see him for the last time and she kissed him. Wonderfull!!!
My favourite Romantic Moment is the scene in Gladiator when Lucilla visits Maximus for the last time. She says "I must go" and he says "yes". Then there is a pause, then they kiss. Oh, so sweet!
My choice may seem odd, because it's a scene where there isn't even a woman present! It's the scene in GLADIATOR where Maximus describes his home to Marcus Aurelius. The love and longing in his face, and in his voice, when he says the soil is black, "like my wife's hair," pretty much tells you all you need to know about his devotion to his family, and his yearning to go home to them. It sets up the rest of the action in the film. Brilliant performance.
In LAC when Bud tells Lynn, "You look better than Veronica Lake." I had never seen Russell in a movie prior to that, and I became a fan with those words.
My favorite romantic moment is the "The moon is waning" bed chat in "Heaven's Burning".
Wow.. there are so many of Russ's older films that I have not seen. All of you are lucky to have seen them. I am will add my vote for Mystery Alaska. The 2 scenes with the newspaper and then the one on the ice. I just love them! And I am pleased that so many others have too!
1. Mystery, AK - during the "jealousy" scene, he explains why he's feeling upset, swallows real hard and with a cracked voice tells his wife "I know your smiles, that's not for me..." then later of course over the "dear abby" scene with the kiss in the snow.
2. Proof of Life - the entire last delicious closeup shot with van morrison singing
I think Rusty is the BEST kisser I've ever seen!! I'm quite conflicated as to one particular favorite moment!! That's tough!! That's like trying to eat one potato chip!! LOL! I agree that the scene where John Biebe was ice skating and gave his wife one doosie of a kiss!! Also, the shower scene in "Breaking Up" really did it for me!! Of course, you might call that more of a 'sexy' moment as opposed to a romantic one!!
I love the scenes already mentioned in Mystery Alaska with the addition of when you see John Biebe in the Bronco after the funeral for Bailey and he his eyes and face when he sees his wife going in front of the vehicle to get into the passage side of the Bronco.... I love that look.
The wonderful love scene in the barn in Hammers Over the Anvil.
Asking Kim Basinger " Why me " in L.A. Confidential
I don't know why this film is always overlooked but by far "Breaking Up" is the most romantic film Russell has ever done. Just about every scene with Salma Hayek is either INCREDIBLY sexy or romantic. I would love to see Russell do another romantic lead - comedy or drama. By the way, how do I get a copy of the European version of "The Quick And The Dead"? I can not fathom why they keep editing out the best love scenes in "A Beautiful Mind", "Proof Of Life", and "Quick And The Dead". Besides being a phenomenal actor, Russell Crowe is one SEXY MAN!!!
When Bud told Lynn she looked better than Veronica Lake. Her expression was priceless. He saw beyond her facade. What a turn on!!!
I like this movie "Heavens Burning" and especially this beautiful dance scene with Russell (who wouldn`t like to chance with this actress?). He should dance much more in his movies. And in "Beautiful mind" I really love the star scene, it was one of the romantic moments I've ever seen.
My favorite romantic moment was in "For The Moment" when Lachlan & Lil were under the covers after returning from the lake. Just the way he held her in his arms gave me goosebumps.
The dance scene in "Heavens Burning". The song was absolutely beautiful and the way Russell looked at her while they were dancing is a scene I will never forget. The bedroom scene at his dad's house wasn't bad either. 2) In "For The Moment" when he was in the bathtub singing "Waltzing Matilda" and last 3) the final scene in "Proof of Life" when Meg was driving away and he was on the cliff looking down. As you can see, I'm a sucker for any of his movies with music & romantic moments combined
I think my favourite romantic moment is from LAC. Bud and Lynn are in the cinema watching Roman Holiday. Or rather Lynn is watching the movie and Bud is watching her. She's very happy and with her hair in a ponytail she looks very different from Veronica Lake. Bud never takes his eyes off her, and then she turns to him and they kiss. They both look so relaxed and happy. It's the sweetest RC momet ever. But then, practically every scene with Bud and Lynn is very romantic.
It must be the hot love scene from The Quick and the Dead. I've seen it many many times and it's always a real turn-on. But I also liked those romantic scenes in MA, they were really beautiful.
My favorite romantic moments are: from the movie "A Beautiful Mind" when John Nash is drawing an umbrella with the stars in the sky to impress Alicia,it was so beautiful! Also in the same movie, the proposal at the restaurant, I found it romantic and in "Mystery Alaska" when John Biebbe, Russell's character decides to write a poem, sort of declaration of love to his wife, isn't romantic? Those were my favorite romantic moments.
When Maximus kissed Lucilla in "Gladiator". I like this movie vey much!
My favorite romantic moment was in For the Moment. Lachlan and Lill came in from the rain, were all soaked and spent the night together. Afterwards the way he hugged her was wonderful. Of course who could forget him singing in the tub the next morning!
Not that you asked, buthe most sexually charged moment was in Hammers Over the Anvil. What a scene in the barn! I can't look a bale of hay the same ever again!
The most romantic and erotic scenes he was ever able to play was in "sum of us". He loses all of his famous charisma when he is acting with a woman. I`m female, so it's a pity. He could be the best actor, but that is his lack.
First of all I just love the way Russell kisses in his love scenes. He seems to wrap his lips around his leading ladies mouth and I just melt everytime. The choices are a real toss up but there is one that stands out from L.A Confidential. When Bud comes into Lynn's real bedroom which looked more private and "Why me?" was all he said but the way he said it and how he looked just chokes me up everytime. Then Lynn sitting on the bed with her head next to his chest and he lightly touched her hair and as she pulled him down on the bed he kissed her forehead and then her lips with the camera looking thru the brass railings of the bed. I tell you I only wish I was her. Also when he's watching her as Lynn's watching 'Roman Holiday' and he kisses the side of her neck. Goosepumps on top of goosepumps!
There are many sexy moments, but I think when it comes down to real romance. The scene in A Beautiful Mind with the stars and "pick a shape" will go down in movie history for me as one of the most romantic moments ever. There is an intimacy there in the way he strokes her back that just sets the old heart to flutter. Plus his acceptance speech for the Nobel Prize, when he was holding that little hankie from their first date and said "You are all my reasons". Beautiful. John Nash was/is a romantic.
Also, Mystery, Alaska: The creativity of John in showing his wife how much he loves her by using Dear Abby, it was a very marital moment. Not large and flamboyant just quiet and intimate. Very touching.
Rough Magic, the scene in the church. His whispering to her from behind. So soft and sweet. Love that.
For The Moment: When he has his 'Deja Vu' moment with Lil up on the mountain, he was a very romantic character. Lachlan just had a way about him that I love. Tender and sweet. He himself was a romantic.
My favourite romantic moment was in ABM when Alicia kisses John for the first time. Russell held onto the first part of the kiss as if was an amazingly long thirst being quenched. Very romantic and well acted.
It's evening, out in the back yard. Jeff is sitting with his Dad and his date, Greg. There's banter back and forth about having another drink. Greg: "Maybe I will have one more. I might do anything...." He looks meaningfully over at Jeff. The look Russell gives Greg before huskily whispering, "Feel free," is so hot and so seductive, it takes my breath away. It only lasts a few seconds, but it packs a wallop. The man is an astonishing, astonishing actor. (The scene is from "The Sum of Us.")
So many moments, so little time:
She says “I’ve felt alone all my life, except with you,” and he traces the outline of her face with his finger, she says: “ I must go” and he says “Yes”, their breathing becomes deeper, he leans in and kisses her, she puts up her hand and caresses his chin……
He’s gazing at her beautiful face and can’t stop himself from saying: “You look better than Veronica Lake,” realizes how open that was and backs off. Later, responding to her asking his name, she opens the door and he says: “ It’s Bud.” She tries to tell him how much she cares for him, he defends himself from the loss he knows must come by talking of other things, but as he sees the car she’s in move off, out of the corner of his eye, he turns and watches it drive away, the play of his emotions, love, loss, pain, resignation, self-ridicule, all glowing in his eyes on that 10 foot screen in the dark.
Can't help it, just saw Love in Limbo and loved shy little Arthur Baskin - a great character that I wish the movie had made more of, but that's beside the point...What a sweetly romantic moment at the end of the movie when he first sees "lil sis". Makes me smile just visualizing his reaction. We can practically feel his heart pounding! His hands are shaking but he is so sure this is something wonderful that his grip is firm (just to make sure the vision is real?!) Remember that feeling? Wow, I do! Sweet romance - exhilerating, perfect and precious!
My favorite Russell romantic moment is the part in Mystery, Alaska where he's lining out the poem to Donna in the Dear Abby column..... sigh.... I also love the tender moment in POL where Terry catches Alice crying and he comforts her. The way he looks at her. Love it!
Romantic. Well, I was about to say in "Hammers", when he dances with his lady love at the party, but that is the most passionate. Romantic. I think of longing and heat and there are lots of those (many mentioned above) but really not so many romantic scenes. I guess the star gazing in ABM. Nash is enchanting Alicia and he's shyly pleased with himself. It's very romantic--and yet sexy, too.
My favorite romantic Russ moment is the photo shown above, from Breaking Up. Yumm!!!!
For me scene in Proof of Life when he is negotiating on radio and Meg is sitting beside him. He is looking tired and she touches his shoulder, he turns to look at her and he looks so sweet, I'm sure by the time they shot that scene the two were heavily involved, his eyes said everything.
I'll have to go with MA and the argument scene when he says "...that smile is not for me" and then of course the follow-up with Dear Abbey...a genuine husband. In FTM, the storm scene and the way that Lachlan looks at Lill, the eyes say it all and then of course that beautiful kiss. In HB, at the bachelor's and spinsters ball when they dance, the look in his eyes show's how much he adores her without even saying a word and, the bedroom scene when Colin says "it's our fate that brought us together, why would you want to change that?". I can't leave out HOTA...the waltz with Grace, again the way he looks at her speaks louder than words. There's so much intensity in his eyes that get to me with each one of these scenes. I also liked in ABM, the nobel prize speech..."you are all my reasons" and the restaurant scene with the crystal...he was listening. I could go on and on but this is getting a bit lengthy.
#1) In MA, during the argument scene when Biebe says "I know you smiles and that smile is not for me" and then of course the follow-up scence with the Dear Abby column...a genuine good husband. #2) In HB, the Bachelors and Spinsters Ball dance, the way he looks at her speaks louder than words, such devotion and also the bedroom scence when ther're talking and Colin says "but our fate brought us together, why would you want to change that?" plus, "the moon is wanning". #3) In FTM, during the storm when they return back to the house and it's dark with candles flickering and Lachlan looks into Lill's eyes, oh that look!, then that BEAUTIFUL KISS! #4) In HOTA, the waltzing scene with Grace, again the way that he looks at her, so much intensity in those eyes. #5) In ABM, the Nobel Prize speech when he says, "You are all my reasons" and also the scene at the restaurant with the crystal when he said "I'm always listening". I could go on and on but will limit myself for now!
Russell can do wonders for me without ever saying a word!
Maximus gazing into Lucilla's eyes, caressing her cheek, and that tender kiss...gosh.
That adorable expression on Nash's face in the bistro as Alicia says, "The part that you don't know, is if I'm gonna marry you." Wow.
Terry scooping up Alice's face and kissing her as he is about to leave to rescue her husband.
Jeffrey comforting Lucretia as she watches her daughters out in the yard, and weeps about losing the house. That touched me, when he held her.
There are so many more; Russell is absolutely incredible.

I was surprised that it wasn't already here. It is the scene near the end of A Good Year, in the restaurant, when Max says softly - in French - the same thing Fannie had whispered to him at the pool when they were children.

I live they way he looks at her when he poins out that she remembers, too.

Off the top of my head: 2 scenes in Robin Hood. The one where Robin's in front of the fireplace when Marian says they must share her chamber as a ruse for the servants, and Robin answers "Ask me nicely." (I like my romance with a touch of comedy!)
Then there's the scene where Robin and Marian dance. Their eyes are touching each other much more intimately than their hands. Enough intensity there to burn down Sherwood Forest.

All of the above and one more, from Cinderella Man when he lifts his wife and you can see her face all flush, while he's sweetly talking her into doing what he wants to do. She is all his. And he gets what he wants.

Certainly all of the above but my favorite at the moment was the kiss between Robin and Marion beside his horse as he was going to ride off to war. Her eyes seemed to glow when he said "I love you Marion."
It makes me smile every time I watch it.

Mary, you certainly have quite a list of wonderful comments on RC's romantic moments in films! :)

As for me...truthfully? I wouldn't know where to begin with this. But, after a lot of thought...RC - each film, each 'romantic' scene you've portrayed is unique. Although ABM is my #1 personal favourite for 'romance', 'chemistry' et al, I must say that...I love the simmering 'fire' in LA Confidential scenes with Kim Basinger...the friendship/growing passion in A Good Year, the 'taste'/glimpse of desire in M&C that is overruled by duty and vows...the desperate 'need ' for love in The Sum of Us, the obsessive/aggressive passion in Romper Stomper, the devotion & familial love in Gladiator, Cinderella Man, The Insider & The Next Three Days. And, I haven't even commented on The Quick and the Dead, State of Play, Robin Hood...and, still, the list goes on! :D I can't speak for other women, but, for me, thank you RC for all of these wonderful scenes of romance and wonderful films! Moreover, thank goodness you have a strong and 'more-than-understanding' wife, Danielle...she is, of course, in your words...a "diamond"... :)

I was just searching for this info for some time. After six hours of continuous Googleing, at last I got it in your site. I wonder what's the lack of Google strategy that don't rank this type of informative websites in top of the list. Usually the top websites are full of garbage.
